Manhattan Project Digital Experience
Overview:
Wanting to create more immersive teaching modules, a team of Academic Designers at McGraw Hill and myself developed a browser based experience detailing the history of the Manhattan Project. This digital experience would be used as a spring board to teach various geo-political ramifications for higher education students. The eventual result would be prototype for a potential path-based, immersive educational website that included original illustrations, video and historical resources.
Process:
I pitched the idea of using the medium of collage and the striking black and red color palette early on. The stakeholders on the project were immediately engaged by the mood boards and initial concepts I had created. With additional 2D illustrations to supplement the collage work, the bold typography, and the interactive storylines created by a team of Academic Designers, we were able to assemble learning modules that brought this specific point in history to life.
Deliverables:
Thad Saleska, Senior Director Content Engineering at McGraw Hill Education, said this about the Manhattan Project POC:
“Scott created the style and design for an immersive learning module on the Manhattan Project, which was a POC to showcase our authoring tools. From the overall look and feel, to the creative color palette, to the interactive features, Scott’s work was brilliant. The Manhattan Project is, to this day, promoted internally as the “gold standard” for innovative digital learning experiences at McGraw Hill".
